After a decade at Microsoft I have tendered my resignation. I’m planning on using the next 6 months as a personal sabbatical to pursue some independent projects and gain some perspective on the industry and what I’d like to do next.

I have 3 specific projects I’m going to work on:

  • Crowd-Sourced Design Testing - one of the most valuable tools that we have used in the past couple years, is a simple tool that enables teams to get really fast feedback on design decisions from a representative set of customers.

  • iOS App - I will use the design testing tool to then test many different design approaches for an iOS app I will build. This should help me test the tool and give me some more insights (and data) for how valuable it can be during the design process.

  • A/B Testing Framework for iOS - Finally, I’ve been thinking through how I could bring a robust A/B testing platform to iOS and the mobile development culture. I’ve got a lot of ideas on how one might build this, and I’m excited to give it a go.

This is the trajectory that I’m starting with, but I fully expect to pivot at many points over the coming months. There are a lot of things that I’m interested and I’m going to use these projects as a vehical to learn about them all!
